New tools from wave topology for asteroseismology

Abstract

Asteroseismology studies waves in stars and uses them to infer what their internal structure is. Today, with space photometry missions such as Kepler and TESS, we can detect oscillations in tens of thousands of stars. I will present new theoretical tools using wave topology – originally developed for condensed matter physics – that unify and extend classical results in asteroseismology, shedding new light on oscillation spectra and their applications.
