The interplay between galaxy formation and cosmology

Abstract

Observational surveys of the distribution of matter in the universe are becoming ever more precise and are now placing strong constraints on cosmological models. I will discuss how galaxy formation physics – including feedback from stars and black holes – interplays with cosmological observables, and how we can use the next generation of surveys to disentangle the two. I will focus in particular on the tension between different cosmological probes and what it might tell us about new physics.
