The interplay between galaxy formation and cosmology
Abstract
Observational surveys of the distribution of matter in the universe are becoming increasingly precise and are now placing strong constraints on cosmological models. I will discuss how the physics of galaxy formation—including feedback from stars and black holes—interacts with cosmological observables, and how we can use the next generation of surveys to disentangle the two. I will focus in particular on the tension between different cosmological probes and what it might tell us about new physics.
