4MOST Mission at the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics in Potsdam (AIP)

As part of the preparations for the final testing phase of the 4MOST instrument, ahead of its shipment to the VISTA telescope in Chile next summer, a mission was carried out in early December by CRAL at the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics in Potsdam (AIP), where the entire instrument is currently being integrated. The objective of this mission was to ensure the final alignment of the low-resolution spectrographs (LRS), which had been delivered by CRAL in late 2022. The computational science team participated in this mission, using software specifically developed to facilitate the alignment and verify the technical specifications of the spectrographs.
