The story of a dwarf galaxy: I Zwicky 18 and what I've learned over the past 12 years
Abstract
The metal-poor, irregular dwarf galaxy known as I Zwicky 18 has been a constant source of fascination for me throughout my scientific career. The galaxy emits an unprecedented amount of hard ionizing radiation, along with certain emission features in its spectrum. To explain this, a theorist like me must develop a complex hypothesis based on reliable computer models and compare its predictions with all available observations in the literature. In this talk, I share my fascinating story of the past 12 years spent tackling the case of I Zwicky 18.
